Another three points, an apparently rejuvinated Andy Burgess, consecutive wins for the first time in two months, and a 9th-placed finish to the weekend. Not a bad afternoon. With Barrow (17th), Woking (20th) and Northwich (22nd) Rushden’s next three opponents, the Diamonds can look to push on from here.
“Was shaping up to be a good, even, open game of football until the ref totally ruined it.” No points for guessing who this fan supports.
“…we’re gunna piss this tinpot league! Woooooooo!” Nor for guessing the alliance of this fan (not that hard to guess the name, either!)
“[Burge’s goal] was certainly one of the best I’ve seen in the Conference – I lost count of how many men were in front of him when he started the run. I hope Alty’s video was working in the fog.”
“I like this, you play Burge in his best position, with proper instructions and he runs the game and the commentator raves about him… but we can’t have that can we Benny? Better put him at right-back next week then.”
“The sending off was an exceptionally poor decision by an incompetent referee who I was told by the bloke next to me has already been demoted from this level. From the start of the game, asking players to pull up their skins so that they were not showing under the shirts and then wanting to check the ball it was obvious he wanted to be the centre of attention. He then compounded the error by giving the lad who was fouled (I use that term in the loosest sense)just a yellow card when it was clear to all and sundry that he was out to get somone back in retaliation. “
“In short the ref was an utter disgrace and should go back to reffing Sunday Leauge, on second thoughts that would also be above his level of skill. Maybe Junior under 11’s? Completley ruined the game”
