Oxford United versus Rushden and Diamonds. Leave a comment below (no registration needed).
1:45 pm Not long until kick-off. Match photos will be uploaded when we receive them… Commentary available at BBC Oxford, and Radio Diamonds. A quick google will help you find those sites…
2:09 pm While away some time before the match begins by reading some light entertainment from Kettering’s messageboard: MAJOR NEWS COOPERS OFF TO THE SCUM. In all its unedited glory.
2:18 pm Hmmmmmm… first OJ Simpson, now Burge and Corcoran on the bench – can this day get more controversial!
2:24 pm New Oxford chairman has repeated the words “tough economic times” three times in his short interview on BBC Oxford thus far.
2:45 pm Oxford, according to their captain, is not only the biggeest league in the Conference, but “probably also the biggest in the league above”. Good God. Bradford FC and your 15,000 fans – watch out!
2:52 pm Dave Savage is mentioned in the local report. He has moved from Brackley FC (where he was captain) to Oxford City.
2:53 pm Billy Turley is in complimentary mood – Rushden are a “good” team, Clare is “a fox in the box”.
3:00 pm Kick off. Both sets of fans are in good voice. Clare opens the matches action with a shot wide of the goal.
3:12 pm “How’s he saved that? How’s he missed it?” A hatrick of great saves from Dale Roberts keeps Rushden from conceding an early goal or three.
3:13 pm Tomlin introduces himself to the Oxford fans by diving in the box. A Wolleaston shot is easy for Mr. Turley.
3:25 pm ANOTHER save from Roberts. Oxford are on top.
3:31 pm All the chances coming Oxford’s way.
3:33 pm No fans’ photos today, I’m afraid.
3:41 pm Barry Quinn scores against his own club. Feck.
Half time sees Rushden trailing by a goal to nil. As it stands Rushden are currently in 10th place – a draw would see them move up a place, a win up to 3rd.
4:08 pm Clare was a stud’s lenth away from getting Rushden a goal, according to Mr. Commentator.
4:11 pm A scary moment – an Oxford player, one falls after passing Burton, the last man… the referee books the OUFC player instead for diving. Phew!
4:12 pm Rushden go 3-4-3, with Lee Phillips coming on.
4:13 pm Oxford 2-0 Rushden. At least Kettering are losing. Game over.
4:15 pm Erm… maybe not. Clare scores from a free-kick to get the Diamonds right back in it. Ahem.
4:18 pm Over 350 away fans singing “Come on Rushden” as the Diamonds push for an equaliser.
4:34 pm Kettering have equalised.
4:39 pm Jellyman has been sent off for pulling someone’s shirt.
4:43 pm Kettering have taken the lead.
4:48 pm 10-man Rushden charging forward. Cross in, Turley has it, then he doesn’t, then it’s in the box, then it’s kicked away…
Full time. Another defeat but still just 3 points off the play-offs. Ths time last season we were 9 points off the top-5…
