Beginning with a bang; Rushden demolish lacklustre Haltsead.

Rushden began their 2008-2009 capaign with a 7-0 win over Halstead Town, with goals coming from new-boys Scott Mitchell and Dean McDonald (2), as well as strikes from Lee Tomlin (2) and Curtis Osano. Andy Burgess limped off the pitch with an apparent pulled hamstring, leaving a bitter taste in the mouth of the 40 or so RDFC fans who made the trip.

Continuing on from his help last season, Dazzler has once again supplied the match photos. Many thanks…

Below, Hope, Day and Kelly take to the field in a triple-substitution.

Above, a Halstead defender stands deflated as Rushden’s 6th goes in, a Curtis shot deflected in off of McDonald.

Below, Michael Rankine scores from the spot, after missing an earlier “sitter”.

Full time, 7-0. More of the same, please.
