Rushden eye up latest signing…

June 8, 2008

Rumours on the Torquay Uts. forum, as well as in the local Peterborough newspaper, claims that Rushden have set their sights on their latest target: Posh’s Adam Newton.

The 27 year-old has made over 200 appearences for Posh, as well as clocking up some early games at West Ham, Portsmouth, Notts County and Leyton Orient. During his time at West Ham he played in the UEFA Cup, as well as making a couple of Premiership appearences. Although being born in England, and representing the country at U21 level, Newton has been a member of the Saint Kitts and Nevis national team. The country is ranked 169th in the world, and have never qualified for a major tournament.

Both Oxford and Torquay are rumoured to also be after the player. Newton himself claims that he wants to stay in the league…
