Retained list reaction (+ etc.)

Above, action from the Diamonds Cup, as the Diamonds U10 team win in their final.

On Tuesday, the club announced their official retained list, outlining which players will be staying at Nene Park for the new season, and which will be leaving. Also strange (worrying?) was the lack of information on Lawrence Lambley, whose pace impressed many last term. Below is the official list…

GOING

Dean Howell (Aldershot)

Paul Nichols (after an apparent bust-up with Garry Hill, he becomes a free agent)

Abdul El-Kholti (also to become a free agent)

Andy Gooding (free agent)

Alex Bolt (free agent)

Curtis Osano (returned to Reading after loan spell)

Conal Platt (returned to Weymouth)

STAYING PUT

Chris Hope, Jon Challinor, Curtis Woodhouse, Andy Burgess, Michael Rankine, Phil Gulliver, Lee Tomlin, Tom Shaw, Marcus Kelly, Sam Smith, Martyn Margason, Jake Beecroft and Michael Corcoran.

Above, more action from the Diamonds Cup.

Overall, there were very few surprises, something that can be seen as a good thing. Nonetheless, the departure of El-Kholti came as something of a shock, given the player’s good form running up to the end of the season. Below is a slice of the reaction to the list, as written on The Diamonds Forum.

“Overall I’m more than happy about the players retained, especially Corcoran. Quite surprised El Kholti has gone though… ”

“Phil Gulliver has signed a new contract? Oh happy days!”

“By the looks of things, it doesnt appear that we have reduced the wage-bill very much!”

“Disapointed about Abdou leaving, but delighted about Corcoran!”

“I expected to see the back of Chris Hope to be honest.”

“I thought Chris Hope had a decent season, and I’m happy to see him stay on at Nene Park. I still think he can do a good job for us on the pitch”… [and off it apparently… Chris has been promoted to player-coach, as well as retaining the captain’ss armband]

I can see yet another season of absolute woe. Headbutting Hill hasn’t got a clue!

Normally, when you post completely inciting and pointless things, you can at least relate them in some way to the topic. Considering that us DIAMONDS FANS are all more than happy with the retained list, what do you base your argument on that you can ‘see another season of absolute woe’ and that ‘Hill hasnt got a clue’? Surely you would have to come to some games to make such a statement?

  3. Ted says:

I base my argument on the fact that you support a poor club with no history and very little support outside of Rushden High Street.Lol.

  4. BartonRaz says:

what has history got to do with anything?

If a club has no history it has no soul.,if a club has no soul it has no foundation and if a club has no foundation it has no future.

It seems you have given a completely shite answer to the question: ‘Surely you would have to come to some games to make such a statement?’ The fact that we are ‘a poor club with no history and very little support outside of Rushden High Street’ doesn’t mean that we will see ‘yet another season of woe’. At least base your opinions on some kind of creditable fact that relates to the question.

Well it makes sense to me! However, I’ve always been the realist amongst those who post about the Diamonds.Lol

Come September when the leading clubs have a head start, things will have come to a head and you’ll all be calling for the head of Headbutting Hill. Lol lol lol lol
