Our youth team’s exploits has been a highlight of the season so far, with the boys winning games 3-0, 4-0, 5-0, 9-0, 14-0 and 24-0 so far this season. The most important result, however, was the 2-0 win over Luton in the recent FA Youth cup. That win seems all the more significant now, given that the recent draw put Rushden one win away from facing Northampton Town.
The team must first beat Rocester on the 22nd of October. Rocester have scored 14 goals in the qualifying games thus far, but should hopefully prove little challenge to our Rushden team that have been scoring for fun in recent weeks. A win for the boys would set up an interesting local derby against the Cobblers in the First Round. That game would be played at Nene Park, hopefully in front of a substantial audience.

Should be a great game, Rushden have some true potential in the team with players like Hallford & McDonald. Both should already be pushing for the first team.

“Interesting” is a wise choice of words for the possible game against the Cobblers!
Hopefully the players won’t even be thinking about that one yet, and will be fully focused on the Rocester game.
