“The goal came in the first half for the trialist who basically ran straight through the R&D defence and finished well … Overall it was a fairly pedestrian affair as games often are this early on but it was a good work out for the team … Not sure what stage R&D are at with their own pre-season, but we were definitely a significantly better and sharper team than them for the most part … Funniest moment of the day for me was the paddling pool R&D were using as an alfresco ice bath after the game!”
I’m not sure who played for the Diamonds, or how they performed (other than the brief, and probably slightly biased report above). It is even possible that JE changed the entire team at half-time, as he did against Rothwell.
